This is a photo of what it did to our Bartlett pear tree that is in our front yard. About a third of
it is now leaning on the end of the porch. No damage that I could see, other than the tree. It had
just bloomed so beautifully this past week and had just gotten its new Spring-green leaves.....which is what did it in, my hubby
says. With leaves the ice had more surface to cling to, I guess.....making the branches heavier.....
and down they came. We don't seem to be having much luck with our trees this year! A large part of the big tree in our
backyard came down in February......it had been struck with lightning back in the summer and that was the part that came down one day when there were strong winds blowing. Well.........I have to say that the Spring storm was bad for our tree - but it sure is beautiful!!! I went out this afternoon and took some pictures. I always find ice-covered trees
breathtakingingly beautiful. It's like a fairy-land - especially with the late afternoon sun
shining through the branches.
